Impatiens Necrotic Spot Virus (INSV) was detected on lettuce in the desert growing region of Southwest Arizona in the spring of 2021. This disease did not have a significant impact in most fields, but the impact of this disease in subsequent seasons cannot yet be predicted. The University of Arizona’s Yuma Center of Excellence for Desert Agriculture (YCEDA) and Yuma County Cooperative Extension and the University of California Riverside co-hosted the Desert INSV Workshop to provide information on what is known about this disease including the biology of the virus and vector, host range, and virus & vector control. The hybrid workshop was held on August 11, 2021.
