Trials Begin To Test Resistance Against Lettuce Wilting Disease

U of A last conducted a test of resistant lettuce varieties 13 years ago in a field known to contain the disease. Since then, plant breeders have created new types of lettuce designed to elude fusarium wilt.

The Colorado River supplies water to millions of people across the American West, travels 1,450 miles and drains into seven US states, including Arizona, and two in Mexico. The river is the heart of the agricultural irrigation system for farmers in the Yuma growing region. The law of the river determines where it goes.
